Shift Manager

Howdy Homemade is more than an ice cream shop. We create meaningful jobs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and we take pride in building a place where joy, dignity, and excellence show up every day. As we continue to grow, especially with increased demand from our patio and catering, we are looking for a Shift Manager who can step in, take ownership, and help with our store and ice cream catering expansion.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with food service experience who is ready to step into a leadership role and help guide the flow of a busy shop. Management experience is a plus, but more important is a willingness to take ownership and continue this growth forward.
The best candidate for this role is excited to guide our Howdy Heroes (adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities) and who brings patience, consistency, and respect into our awesome, joyful environment. At Howdy Homemade, leadership means helping others succeed and creating a place where every team member can do their best work.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in the customer experience and notices the small details that make a big difference. This includes guiding our Heroes to maintain a clean and welcoming space, supporting strong service, and stepping in to improve things when needed.
We need someone who is reliable, steady during the rush, and communicates clearly with both team members and leadership. This role is an exciting opportunity to make a difference.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and support our team of Howdy Heroes during your shift
- Maintain inventory at proper levels, especially during busy seasons
- Guide Heroes to open and close the shop with consistency and attention to detail
- Deliver a high-energy, welcoming customer experience
- Make our award-winning ice cream (don’t worry, we’ll train you) and help keep production on track
- Ensure the store is kept clean, stocked, and running smoothly
- Oversee the execution of Howdy’s ice cream catering experiences
- Step into gaps, solve problems, and keep things moving forward
Requirements
- Available to work Thursday through Sunday, typically around 8-hour shifts
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Reliable vehicle and ability to transport catering supplies
- Able to lift 25 to 50 lbs
- Comfortable being on your feet for extended periods
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, including freezers and outdoor patio
